"The Hands of Light School of Tai Chi and Qi Gong has been established since 1995. The schools founder is Iain Naylor who has been practicing Tai Chi and Qi Gong since 1980. The School teaches and supports over 40 regular classes, throughout Tayside and the Scottish Borders. Training courses are offered to health and well-being practitioners. Since 2005, the school has offered yearly culture and training trips to China with our Chinese partner."
The school is fortunate to have a highly experienced and professional team of instructors.
Our instructors not only conduct classes but also take every opportunity to increase their own knowledge and skills. Most of the team have participated in our culture trips and trained in China and all have trained in the UK with internationally recognised instructors.

Our regular classes are taught in three parts, warm-ups, Qi Gong for health and the study and practice of Tai Chi forms
It is important when practicing Tai Chi and Chi Kung to wear loose clothing so as not to restrict the flow of Chi through your body. Soft-soled shoes are best as you will be asked to be aware of the soles of your feet as you step and move your weight from foot to foot.
At a class you will be encouraged to progress your knowledge and practice at your own speed. Everyone learns at a different pace, depending on their interest, ability and their lifestyle. Your tutor will support you to develop by encouraging and challenging you in your learning but the pace will be determined by you.
A weekly class will give the student the physical benefits of regular exercise and the mental benefit of a relaxation session. Most students report sleeping well the night of their class. It is recommended that beginners introduce a few minutes of practice into their daily routine. At first, 5 minutes of the simple qi gong exercises will be sufficient to help you feel more able physically and mentally. Research has shown that those who practice tai chi and qi gong tend to have lower blood pressure and improved balance.
